"Murder & Corruption" Digital Scavenger Hunt
The interactive digital scavenger hunt offers school groups an exciting way to explore London while discovering more about life in the city during the Victorian era. In small teams, pupils use their smartphones to follow clues and solve puzzles as they help young Scotland Yard detective Arthur Vane investigate a murder. A factory worker has already been blamed for the crime, but his nine-year-old daughter Lizzie is convinced that he is innocent and has stolen the police file containing the evidence. The pupils must track her down, recover the file, examine witness statements, identify manipulated documents and uncover the true murderer before an innocent man is convicted. The route leads through the historic streets of London's East End and takes around two hours. Along the way, pupils independently explore themes such as social inequality, working-class life, policing and the difference between law and justice in Victorian Britain, all while becoming part of an immersive murder mystery. Teachers can either join the investigation themselves or use the time to take a well-earned break nearby.

See London from above
A ride on the London Eye takes about 30 minutes and gives students a view across the whole city. On a clear day you can see Parliament, St Paul's, the Shard and far beyond, which helps the class picture where everything is. It's more sightseeing than learning, but it works well at the start of a trip.

Experience London's dark history
The London Dungeon tells the darker side of London's history with actors, special effects and a lot of drama: Jack the Ripper, the plague, Sweeney Todd. It's clearly entertainment rather than a museum, but students usually remember it, and it can lead to a good conversation about what's fact and what's legend. Some scenes are scary, so it's best for older students.

Visit Buckingham Palace
Buckingham Palace is the King's official London residence, and its State Rooms open to visitors in summer. Students walk through the rooms used for state visits and receptions and see paintings from the Royal Collection, with an audio guide included. It's a good starting point for talking about what a constitutional monarchy actually does today. Photos aren't allowed inside, and the rooms are busiest around midday.

Visit Tower Bridge
Tower Bridge opened in 1894 and still lifts for passing ships. Inside, students walk along the high-level walkways, look down through the glass floor at the traffic below and visit the Victorian engine rooms that once powered the bascules. It's an easy way to bring physics and engineering into a sightseeing day, and it pairs well with the Tower of London next door.
